Do you know Muara Takus Temple? No? Then this post is quite interesting for you to know, and maybe, you will also be interested to go there!
Muara Takus temple is one of the biggest Buddhism sites in Riau. It is located Kampar regency, Riau. The first time I heard this temple was then I'm in grade 5, I think. I saw the picture in my Arabic Malay book but it was quite small and black, so I couldn't see the exact figure. I thought it was small, but when I went there...
Maybe the picture is not quite big here, but I can tell you, the temple is quite big. For me, it's BIG. But hey, let's get back to the first things we did before we got there.
Mr. Jhonny (IPS teacher) informed that we would have our Field Trip to Muara Takus on Monday, 2 days before the trip. When he informed us, we were like "Yay!" and "Oh my God!" or "Finally!" Maybe because last year, we had our lesson in Buddhism and Hinduism history, but Mr. Jhonny didn't have time to take us there. Hereafter, he sent us the confirmation letter, and shorty all of us were allowed to go.
The trip was like for 3-4 hours, so that's another thing that made me excited. I looooove travelling.
Mr. Jhonny said that if we didn't have time to take our breakfast, we would eat at Pekanbaru. But me and my friends agreed that all of us would take our breakfast at home. The plan changed and some of us were having our breakfast at Pekanbaru, haha, we were hungry!
Tea! And eggs! I took fried noodle as well.
Kevin took pictures as he and everyone were waiting for our breakfast
Mr. Jhonny and Ms. Tina discussing about the food they should afford
Some of us are still sleepy (including Joshua)
So those are some of the pictures I took in the small restaurant. It was near a mental hospital in Pekanbaru. We stayed there for like 1 and a half hours, then we continued. In the bus, we didn't talk much, most of us were listening to songs in cellphones. So it was a bit boring :')
Finally we arrived in Muara Takus temple around 11:30-12:00 AM. It was hot outside so we put extra 'protections'! I couldn't believe that the temples were actually bigger than I thought! There were 2 big temples and 2 small ones I think. Right after we arrived we took pictures immediately. The temples were great, and I couldn't believe that I'm in Muara Takus. So here are the pictures I took:
The real figure is actually BIGGER
This is one of the 2 big temples in the area
We stay at Muara Takus for 1 hour. Because we have to go back to Kerinci in that day, we went off and decided that we will have our lunch at Bangkinang.
In our way to Muara Takus, we saw a BIG bridge which has a great view of Kampar river, but we had not had the chance to take pictures (especially those with DSLR). So at our way back to Kerinci, we stopped to take pictures in it. Some of us were excited and went directly to the bridge, but some others waited in the small stores because it was too hot. Here are the pictures of the bridge and Kampar river I took, which are not too much.
Shortly, we headed back to Kerinci but we took our lunch at a restaurant in a restaurant. Unfortunately I forgot where it was. Anyway, it was really a memorable trip and I enjoyed it a lot!
